The Labour Party

  1. The Political Party’s General Principles
    • The Labour Party has always been known as a socialist party that wants the government to make sure that everybody is equal. However more recently, they have began supporting capitalism.
  2. Foreign Policy
    • The Labour Party wants to further strengthen Britain's security and stability in order to better combat terrorism and stopping climate change around the world. Also, they want to reform international organizations such as The United Nations in order to adapt to new global challenges.
  3. International – The EU
    • The Labour Party wants to help boost economic recovery throughout all of Europe which will then in turn only improve Britain.
    • The Labour Party believes that the European Union is key to a successful future so they want Britain to be known as the leaders of The EU. One of the most important things they want to do is improve the infrastructure throughout all of Europe.
  4. The Economic Crisis - Financial Stability Programme
    • The Labour Party wants to secure economic recovery by supporting the economy and cutting the deficit in half by 2014 through growth, fair taxes and cuts to lower priority spending.
    • The Labour Party wants to create more jobs by better modernizing their economy and increasing its technology industry.
  5. Health Care and the NHS
    • The Labour Party strongly supports the NHS and wants to increase the amount of diagnostic and preventive care for everyone, especially those above 40.
  6. Immigration
    • The Labour Party favors the use of an Austrailian-style points-based system to stop unskilled migration from outside Europe
    • The Labour Party supports English language tests for public sector employees that come in contact with the public
  7. Education
    • The Labour Party supports one-to-one tuition for any student that needs it
    • The Labour Party supports Teach First, a program allowing better schools to take over the worst schools
  8. The Environment – Global Warming
    • The Labour Party seeks to achieve a 40% low-carbon electricity by 2020
    • 400,000 new green jobs by 2015
    • Other green incentives that would reduce energy use of people and reward them for saving energy
  9. Democracy – Devolution et al.
    • The Labour Party wants to break up longstanding concentrations of power, improve transparency, make government more accountable to the people and strengthen the hand of citizens against the state. Especially after the recent economic downturn, they want to improve the role of people in the government and make sure government leaders are held accountable for their decisions.
